Testing of the Volatiles Analyser (VA) mass spectrometer has been continuing at the Open University prior to testing of the VA and the VS at TUM. Shown is an image of the mass spectrometer operating in the Lunar simulation chamber at the OU. The glowing filament can be seen casting an orange glow inside the tank.
The newly built LUVMI rover had its first outing as it was successfully driven outside of the laboratory. The successful manoeuvre was the result of months of collaborative work. The LUVMI rover is pictured here placed at the rock garden at the headquarters of Space Applications in Belgium. More outdoor testing is planned for early December.
More LUVMI tests were underway at Space Applications Services headquarters in Zaventem, Belgium recently. After an intense few days, the successful testing showed communications between the scientific instruments and the rover's computer. The great result meant that it was now time to take the LUVMI rover outside of the lab for more testing.
